CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As the city prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the statehood of North Carolina, here’s a quick rundown of what you need know before you head to the Big Easy.
WHAT IS NC-17?
North Carolina-17 is the designation of the North Carolina State Convention Center, which opened in 1970.
It stands for North Carolina Department of Land and Natural Resources.
WHERE ARE THE EVENTS?
The North Carolina Convention Center is located on the corner of Broad and Main Streets in downtown Charlotte.
WHEN ARE THE CONVENTION CENTERS?
The convention center opens at 8:30 a.m. every day, though it’s a good idea to arrive early if you want to enjoy the city’s nightlife.
WHEN IS THE EVENTS FREE?
The free convention center events are scheduled every year, though you may want to consider joining a group of friends and family for the weekend festivities.
WHAT’S THE MONEY TO GET TO THE CONvENTION CENTER?

1) WHAT ARE THE DEALS?
You can enjoy great food and drink, but the biggest draw for visitors to Charlotte is the convention center.
There’s a wide range of restaurants, boutiques, shops and bars within walking distance.

The downtown area is packed with restaurants, shops, and entertainment, and many of the establishments are open from 10 a.f. to 2 p.m., but the city has a number of open-air dining options as well.

2) WHAT’M THE FEE?
The city charges $15 per person for a single night.
You can pay for two nights for $35 or more.

3) WHEN CAN I GO?
The event takes place July 13 and 14, but it’s always free to visit the convention hall.
You don’t need to bring cash, though, as there’s plenty of cash to spend at the casino.
